The Laboratoire de Probabilités et Modèles Aléatoires (Laboratory of Probabilities and Random Models) is the result of the fusion the 1st of January 1999 of the old Laboratoire de Probabilté of the University Paris 6 and the team Probabilités et Statistique of the University Paris 7.

The lab comprises about 70 permanent teacher-researcher, 50 PhD students, an administration team of 6 people.

It hosts the activities of two masters second year, which represent more than 200 students each year.

The laboratory's activities take place in the applied mathematics field and deals with the modelisation, the description and the estimation of random phenomena.

The research themes cover a wide range of domains, from pure mathematics to applications in various field such as medical, humanities, astrophysics, ensurance or finance,...

The laboratory comprise five teams : Théorie ergodique et Systèmes dynamiques, Modélisation stochastique, Mouvement brownien et Calcul stochastique, Statistique, Probabilités numériques et Mathématiques financières.
